Born in Toronto,
Richard doodled his way through Europe living in Austria, Germany, and Italian
Switzerland, before moving back to Toronto by the age of ten. He realized his
career path would be in art through the inspiration of his art teacher, and
Canadian artist Richard
Hayman at Lakefield College School.
Richard began to dabble in oils while attending North Toronto Collegiate
Institute and completed his last year of high school at Lycee Canadien en
France near Nice, France. Richard began
to think seriously about animation while completing his Bachelor degree in
Visual Arts at The University of Western Ontario. In 1997 he moved to where the animation
action is, Canada's "North Hollywood", Vancouver. After two years of classical and computer
animation training at Vanarts, Richard has worked professionally in almost all
stages of production. From final line
animator for Dreamworks projects to computer animator for a Ubisoft title, he
also worked as a concept artist, storyboard artist, and modeler along the
way. Since 2004 Richard has worked at
Relic Entertainment, continuing to broaden his animation skills toward higher
levels.
